The founder and president of Nueva Salud, Dr. Stanley Cheren, has begun assembling a group of expert colleagues, who are equally impassioned about the mission. The following individuals have already made a commitment, and the list will grow. | ||||
DirectorsStanley Cheren, M.D., President,has been in clinical practice for over forty years, and has particular interest in indigenous people of Central America. Linda Cheren, M.A., Vice-President, has consulted to a range of non-profit organizations for 30 years on issues of marketing and development. Phyllis Abramson, R.N., Ph.D., a health care professional for 45 years, is president of the Abramson Group, a medical practice consulting firm specializing in patient care and satisfaction. She has served on the Board of the American Red Cross. Jeanne Goldberg, R.D., Ph.D., registered nutritionist, is a professor of nutrition at Tufts University and an active nutrition consultant in the U.S. and abroad. Robert M. Rose, M.D., has been a clinician and researcher for 45 years. Now retired from his professorship at the University of Texas, he is Executive Director of The Mind Brain Body Health Initiative. |
Jacobo Sabbaj, M.D. is a specialist in infectious disease. Formerly Merck Pharmaceuticals vice-president of clinical research worldwide, he is now vice- president of CIDAL, a clinical trials firm in Guatemala, and consultant at Roosevelt Hospital, Guatemala City. Gregory Walton, M.Sc. Director of the educational project in the village of San Antonio La Nueva Esperanza, has lived in Guatemala for the last ten years, previously functioning as the principal of an International School in Quetzaltenango, and is presently vice president of Association Alas. Advisory BoardChristian Aponte, M.D.,a Guatemalan physician, has extensive experience in public health and development, working with multiple projects to improve conditions for underserved populations. Newell Flather, past chairman of Oxfam America, is an expert in grants management. Lawrence Harrison, author or co-editor of seven books on development, is a professor at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, and former USAID mission director in Guatemala. Lee Huhn, M.D., a pediatrician, has spent over 20 years serving the poor of Central America. |
